The A4 is a mid-range sedan vehicle Audi manufactures and markets, and the successor to the Audi 80 and Audi 90, which were called the Audi 4000 Audi in North America. The original B5 series was sold in 1994 and shared the B5 platform with the fifth generation Passat. Designed as a front-wheel drive with a vertical engine, the car was also available with a Quadro （four-wheel drive） system. The fifth B9 series that has been released since 2015 has won the Import Car of the Year at the 2016/17 Car of the Year Japan award.
